Have to slam door closed

I have to slam the drivers door for the chim noise to stop and the door lights to extinguish.
Sometimes it takes a few tries.

I moved the latch away from the car to help, but its at its limit. Is there anything I can do to solve this problem? Thanks

The chime and the courtesy light is controlled by a microswitch in the door latch assembly. I have removed the door latch and then glued on a thin shim between the cam and the microswitch to make it work reliably but it is a PITA. The real cure is to replace the door latch.
