Volvo Engine Rebuilders in New England?
1st timer in NH looking for some opinions. 2006 Volvo S40, Non Turbo. 214,000 miles. It runs, but it's getting tired. Engine raps on start up, noisy, doesn't have the power it once did and it's probably not long before it dies. Book value is roughly $3500 with this many miles. Worth having the engine done? Will the tranny need to be replaced soon where it's a sealed unit, how many miles is that good for do you think? I bought it new, it's been a good car, hate to just junk it if the engine goes. Worth having it rebuilt? What would they rebuild..pistons, valves, head? Junk yard motors if I can even find one are over $3k. Any suggested Volvo engine guys in New England area or cut my losses and try to sell it? Suggestions much appreciated. Thanks

Have compression test done to assess the rings block and valves. If the block is good, it's a good candidate to spend money to get another 50-100k
Since you bought it new, you know if the transmission has 'commuted' , in which case they last forever, or 'trashed'
