My AWD has been AWOL for weeks now, I finally got my Vida working so I ran the codes and it came up with the code for the electric pump as well as the sensor. So for the past two days I ripped apart my AWD system and replaced all these components, here is what I learned;
1. Be prepared to spend 10+ hours on this when dealing with overly tighted/seized/poorly designed bolts.
2. I strongly advise using a pit or a hoist for this job, I did this on my garage floor and I think I am going to be stiff and sore for days now.
3. Removing the exhaust is super easy, and removing the driveshaft is also easy provided you can seperate the rear end of the driveshaft from the Haldex coupler.
4. Buy some "easy-outs" for the inevitable stripped hex bolts you will encounter.
6. Removing the driveshaft from the coupler is more easily done by using an angled punch and driving it out from the backside of the coupler, hit it a few times and move on to the next hole; repeat until it comes flying out
5. After 230,000KM on this car, the Haldex fluid still looked pristine.
6. If you don't have lots of patience or decent mechanical ability, ask a (ex)friend or get a mechanic to do the job.
Ask me if you have any questions because I feel I can help you all on this topic now, since I was successful with job and the AWD is working! I figured out why my pump failed, it had a massive dent in it and it also snapped off the waterproofing around the electrical wires; can't fault design for this failure!
Thanks,
Jesse
