97 850 Blinker not working SOLVED

Post by dairyqueen814 »

I'm currently elbow deep in my dash doing an LED conversion for the 4 bulbs lighting my dash cluster and 2 blinker bulbs. They all worked initially. The right blinker stopped working and I thought the bulb just needed to be tightened because I had read that that could be a problem. After removing the right blinker and tightening down the metal tabs I reinstalled it and now the right blinker does not work. I tried reversing the bulb, putting the original bulbs back in and taking everything except the right bulb out. All LEDs are in working order so it has to be a problem before the socket. I have the circuit board in my lap right now and could use some wisdom as I am certainly no electrician.
Thanks
Nick

The LEDs may not draw enough current to operate a traditional 'Thermal' Type flasher (not sure if that is the type in your car though). Did you try putting the incandescent bulbs back in?

Yes as stated in the original post I tried putting the original bulbs back in. They worked in the left socket but not the right as well. The right one worked initially but then was a little loose (i could make it work by wiggling it in the socket) so i removed it and tightened down the fasteners and re installed it (both ways) now it appears the socket it dead.
