1998 S70 GLT starting vs 2005 XC90 2.5T starting

1998 S70 GLT starting (160K miles) vs 2005 XC90 2.5T (82K miles) starting
Both have brand new batteries, all tune-up items are up-to-date including spark plugs, cap/rotor for the S70.

Per Bosch website, both models use the same starter motor Bosch SR048 type.
Same battery (Duralast H8-DL type).

This is what I notice:

* 1998 S70 GLT starting: insert the key, crank the engine, which fires up almost immediately, i.e., within 1-2 sec.

* 2005 XC90 2.5T starting: insert the key, crank the engine, there is some "hesitance", the starter motor does not have the same "oomph" (as the 1998 S70 GLT) factor, but it fires up the engine in 2-3 sec anyway.

I have noticed this in a few XC90 2.5T that I test drive recently. Maybe this is the design of the XC90 2.5T with the battery in the trunk and long cables feeding the starter motor. Or maybe this is the way it is from the factory...

Does anyone notice the same thing?
