Good People,
I finally got around to the 98 V70 XC that has been in the garage for 2 years with a bent front sub-frame (I bought it thinking it just needed a control arm). I replaced the subframe, passengers side control arm, caliper, plugs, plug wires, oil & filter.
I drove it around town for a bit then put 800 miles on it this week. Ran pretty good except I think the front right wheel bearing is making some noise and there is some clunking in back when starting off which I think is the e-brake.
Well..., a friend came over last night and saw the car out of the garage. Pride before fall... I take him for a ride to show off my cool car and punched it to get on the freeway. Near 70 mph I lose all power barely limp it home, make the driveway, pop hood, smoke coming out near exhaust area...
This morning car won't start.
I pulled these codes: P0300, P0301, P0302, P0303, P0304, & P0455. Misfires and Evap.
I am thinking timing belt or turbo failure.
Any input is greatly appreciated.

Take distributer cap off and check to see if there is oil in the cap, if there is clean it all out and address where the oil got in, also check the PCV isn't blocked, with the engine at running temp take the oil filler cap off, is there lots of smoke or not, lots of smoke could be blocked PCV causing high crankcase pressure which can blow oil past seals getting it in the distributor.
Other item I would check it the turbo oil return pipe, if the seal has gone it will spray oil on to the hot exhaust and cause smoke but this doesn't normally cause miss fire codes - Mike

Inside of cover was dry, though cap and rotor were quite crusty. Broke the cap taking it off (didn't expect the third hex bolt). They both need to be replaced anyway, but I don't think that caused the sudden and sustained loss of power, etc...
Okay, the cam sprockets and crank sprocket seem to be in time.
Questions:
1. How much torque should it take to turn the engine over? I was expecting more resistance.
2. Would the coil fail catastrophically? Would aggressive driving like I was doing cause that?
Thanks,
John

I swapped coils, replaced cap & rotor. Still misfiring badly.
I have read in some posts that a faulty cam or crank sensor will not allow firing at all.
Would some of you please weigh in on this as that was to be my next step.
thanks,
John
