1998 s70 n/a Weird brake problem

Post by cxf »

Got a call from son in law, brake failure while on way to work. Pedal to floor and not much brake action...enough to bring to a stop in a parking lot. My first thoughts are that he blew a brake line. However, after sitting a while he restarted the car and says he now has brakes again. I have not seen this since it happened and only know what has been relayed to me up to this point. Kinda just looking for thoughts on it right now. Thanks in advance.

It could be a master cylinder failure which pumps up - dangerous, DO NOT DRIVE, get it fixed...or, a loose vacuum hose to the brake booster which changes the feel to the pedal. This is also dangerous but less so than a bad master cylinder.
