1998 xc v70 Rear Brake replacement & Retaining clip
Noobie question here. Do the back brake calipers on a 1998 v70 XC contain a retaining clip on the outside? I am about to make my first run at replacing my pads and rotors and couldn't find anything resembling an outside retaining clip or pin to remove prior to loosening the caliper. Thank you in advance.

On the inboard side of the caliper are two plastic plugs - you have to pop these off with a screwdriver, then unbolt the caliper with a hex socket key with a 6 inch handle or so, 6 or 7mm IIRC.

That is the problem, I'm not seeing the two plastic plugs.

They could be missing, in which case the caliper bolts will be full of crud. Clean them out with a small screwdriver or an awl

Looks like mine were very similar to the S80 rear brakes. No pin or caliperbolts. Ended up being the bolt, bracket, nut, bushing configuration. I have it off and I'm rolling along. Thanks for the help. Wanna go wake up Gene?
