2007 XC70 starter is sluggish

starter turns slow, so slow it needs to turn the motor over several times to fire, sometimes almost stops turning. unchanged symptoms about 2 months now.

battery tests fine,750 CCA & terminals spotless. likely time to replace the stater, eh?

any in place test I can perform before I drop $300 on a new starter?

May want to chech cables at starter, also measure volts across battery during crank, should not drop below 10v.
