2008 S80 Replaced FCM and no fix to cooling

My s80 was part of the recall to replace the FCM in 2009. The cooling fan and ac fan seem to only engage intermittently, if at all. I replaced the FCM again, but was shocked at first when the dealer only had a FCM with only one out connection rather then 2 like on my vehicle. i was told I could purchase the entire fan and FCM components, but not able to locate the part i needed. this seemed odd as mine was supposed to have been replaced with the newer model during the recall. I ended up finding the part I need from a reliable source, and replaced it. It still is only enagaging irregularly, and has me a little confused. The relay has been tested, power is reaching each of the 2 fans, but it does not run consistently. What should I do next?
