etm firmware cloning?

Post by shibowsky »

Hello,
I've been lurking around here gathering info on my etm rebuild. I have a donor etm now but it needs to be reprogrammed. Is it possible to copy the firmware of the original etm to the donor using vida dice?

Using Dice (not Vida) while connected to a person who has the software to extract and update modules can be done. I do it all the time for my ETM repair business with the help of MVS member "doublebug" . You can try to find him on Skype and he will match as the first name Henry.

Thanks for the reply. So I wouldn't need to install vida? If this is true it will definitely be a relief. Time to order a dice unit.

Vida is not required. Properly installed Dice USB drivers are a necessity. Henry will need to put some file transfer software on your computer so a working Skype account is good as this allows small file transfers. The communication software is only afew MB.

When cloning ETMs I use a 4G mobile account and tether my laptop to the portable Wi Fi on my phone.
