Dear Folks,
I wonder if you could help me please. I have recently acquired a V70 Auto (I'm sure its year 2000). I have noticed that when the car is stationary with the brakes on, in Drive, the gears or something related seem to engage and disengage, or the gears are changing. When this happens, I can feel it physically moving the car.
No apparent problems when the car is moving.
If any of you could point me in the right direction, or suggest some possible causes I would very much appreciate your assistance...
Kind regards
John

How many miles on the car? When was it last serviced? Do you know if the transmission has been flushed recently?
Finally, check the engine mounts, particularly the top torque mount which is at the RH side rear of the engine when looking from the front. Check it has not sheared out. Also check the mount under the crank pulley on the RH side of the car. It mounts under the crank-pulley and connects to the frame leg. They can delaminate or un-glue with age.
Neil.

If it's the non turbo car you have a 5 speed AW55-50SN transmission. In the European and Australian markets there was a neutral engage feature built into the TCM (transmission control) software.
This was not a feature in USA delivered P80s.
On my own 2000 V70 in Oz I had the feature removed at the dealer. Some say it damages the transmission. For me it made for awkwardly long waiting times for D to re-engage upon pressing the accelerator as the solenoids were already sluggish (a known design fault in early 5 speed autos)
Once the software was updated I felt I was back in control of the car.
