99 V70XC Heater fan speed problem? AC works fine

Post by PatternFlyer »

I am not sure what to work on.
I replaced the Heater core 2 years ago after it started leaking a little bit. Took a few hours, but done right.

A/C works good. the 2 lights on ECC control always blinks after start.
Not a resistor problem (new one installed early summer this year without any change on AC or Heater).

when I turn on the Heater, fan starts but slows down immediately to very slow blow. Slider fan speed control doesn't affect much.
What should I look to fix the problem?

Thank you for the helps,

Ihncheol

It might be a problem with the controller but you need VIDA / DICE to scan it and figure it out. You can't just swap out the controller with a used one since it needs a software download.

There is a Volvo shop over on 69 Hwy, Lamar Automotive I think, that might have VIDA / DICE. If you are ever up around KC I would be happy to scan it for you.

Sure sounds like dry bearings in the blower motor to me...
