Hello there,
ever since we acquired the 05 S80 in July of 2014, the key fob seems "weak" when it comes to opening the doors and trunk. I have since replaced the battery, but there was no marked improvement in the range of effectiveness.
The biggest hassle is for the trunk release as the key slot is "hidden" up underneath the lip above the License Plate area. Using the key here is more awkward than the doors which is straight forward.
Just wondering if Volvos just have short range, and/or slow unlock for the trunk? I have to literally be next to the car to get it to work. The doors I can be anywhere from 0-10ft and it might work. Just looking for some perspective as my other vehicles have a much higher distance range of fob use.
I thought I read somewhere about a receiver in the car? Is this the Alarm/Siren module...as I seem to be having an issue with that too. --> https://www.matthewsvolvosite.com/forums ... 11&t=65793
If anyone can shed some light on this issue, that would be appreciated. Do not know if it is a problem or if it is just normal. As mentioned above the Volvo is new to us and I am learning something new every day about this car.
Thanks for your time in this matter.

Hello,my two key fobs is work very much like your since it was new. I asked the dealer about it and they said that how Volvo made it that way, I wasn't convince, but I could lock and unlock the doors at 3-8times the distance depend how clear the location is,by holding the key fob up and touch my chin facing toward the car and press the button, sound and looks silly but it works for me.Hope it helps.
