This is my second post in as many weeks.
Took my V70 away from the mechanic who had it two weeks and failed to do anything to remedy the issue. It stalled and wouldn't restart on the way to work and I had it towed to the garage.
On advice of forum contributors, I replaced the last two old ignition coils, and installed new Volvo spark plugs. The car ran better with the coils, but wouldn't start. After spark plugs, started right up.
My codes before the breakdown were misfire cylinder 3, O2 bank one, and a turbo control valve.
I ordered a turbo control valve from IPD and a MAF sensor just in case.
The mechanic installed those parts but it had no effect on running until I did the coils and plugs.
For a day and a half it ran better than at any time I've owned the car. I had good power and could hear the turbo wind up for the first time. I was very happy.
Today I went to get gas for my lawn mower. When I pulled out of the gas station it lost power in the turning lane, ran rough, low rpm. I gave it gas to bring the rpm up but it was uneven. When I tried to go forward it went absolutely nowhere. I watched the flashing yellow arrow. I turned off the key then tried to restart. It cranked but would not start.
I eventually got it started and it ran true almost back to home which is less than half a mile. Once more it got shaky as I slowed to turn but recovered.
Twice on the highway it did this, just lost power then recovered.
I sprayed carb cleaner around the intake hoses but no change in idle looking for a vacuum leak. The turbo intercooler hoses left a lot of black on my hands but I didn't change them.
I still would like to replace the vacuum lines a little at a time but I wonder if the issue might be with the park neutral position sensor since the arrow would indicate a transmission issue. As I said it runs great one minute then I'm stuck. Could a failing sensor cause the car to behave like this?
Does the car store a code if the arrow flashes on but also goes out? Would the scanner pull something? No check engine light was illuminated after the incident.
Thanks for your help.

Could be that fuel pump relay too. Look around here, it is an easy test to bypass the relay to confirm.

Okay, thanks. I did pull the fuel pump relay and examined the guts of it. I read about the capacitors being replaced and soldered in. I have no way to know from looking. I mean, it looks clean and intact to me. I don't know if I will ever know for sure as it is an intermittent problem though frequent of late. I have some cracked PCV hoses and I'm told this should be priority number one because it could be the cause of my vehicular misery.
