50-55sn geartronix
Hello. Is a regular 5speed automatic in a 2001 v70 and one with the geartronix manual shift feature the same? Or are these 2 different transmissions? And did the s60's come with both?

Geartronic is only software to support the gear lever assembly inside the car. The geartronic gear lever has the feature allowing the lever to disconnect from trans shift cable and the sensors to know lever has been moved into geartronic gate and to know when you move lever fore or aft to request up or down gear change. For the fore-aft movement the lever is not moving the cable out to transmission.
On vehicles where the same engine can have std system or geartronic option the gearbox will be the same part number.

Jimmy57's last paragraph summed it up. Geartronic and non geartronic cars share the same part number of the transmission.
Geartonic is just a different method of control.

I can't quote part numbers but the turbo versions, both 2.4T and T5 are the same usually with the same gear ratios and the non-turbos are different with a different final drive that will set codes and the internals are less robust.
