The blower motor doesn't come on at all. The fan switch light comes on but no blower in any of the ranges of the fan switch.
My guess. Bad blower motor resister?
Does anyone know how to access the resister without pulling the dash.
Any suggestions on how to determine if its the motor or the resister?
I have the lower panel and glove box pulled.
There are several wires to the blower motor . Not sure which connector on the blower I can put power to see if the fan is ok.
Any help would be appreciated
Thanks

I found it. It is in the blower motor housing. Pull the blower motor out and it is attached to the housing. Once I figured it out. It took about 5 min to unscrew the blower and wrestle it out. I looks like it was replaced before.
Blower is on the passenger side under the black panel that's just below the glove box. Pull the black panel 4 or so screws. Pull the trim panel off the side of the center console and the panel will drop out. Disconnect the wiring to the blower. Cut the foam rubber black carpet insulator. 2 slices going towards the firewall. One on top and one on the bottom. Push the foam insulation towards the firewall. This will allow access to wrestle the blower out. Remove the 3 screws, pull the plastic shield that goes over the electrical connector. Break the last screw retainer that you can't access. The blower and relay all come out together in the housing.
I looked at the connector/relay were the power is fed to the relay. It was slightly burnt.
NO NEED TO PULL THE DASH!!!!!!

May be it was cut away?
I was happy to get it apart without any major issues. New one on order.
I put power to the motor and it spun with no issues.
Can I lube the blower motor. I noticed the one end were the shaft is outside of the cap slightly. Thought about some wd40 on the shaft end. Doesn't seem there is any other points I can lube without taking it part.
When is really cold. There is a slight noise from the motor. Nothing a little lube won't take care of.

There's two bearings that enjoy seizing. A lower one that is visible and can get 1-2 drops of engine oil (forget about wd-40, all those penetrating oils freeze in cold temps, not what you actually need). The upper bearing is under the fan itself and not accessible. It's actually the upper bearing that will seize first.VFLXC90 wrote:When is really cold. There is a slight noise from the motor. If the blower wasn't working at all, I suspect the resistor which is removable.

DO NOT USE WD-40!!
WD-40 is mostly solvent and very little lube. It will often make things worse. Household stuff---great. I have seen a lot of Volvo door hinges on the 700/900 series that were lubed with WD-40 and then started popping and creaking due to the solvent washing away the grease.
Use motor oil as suggested or 3 in 1 oil.

Thanks for the replays.
I purchased a replacement motor. Since it was making some noise and there was some residue dust from the brushes etc. I checked the on line stores and settled with FCP . $89.00 delivered. They have a lifetime warranty on anything they sell and they price match to Rock Auto just as long as it is apples to apples.

oragex,
Thanks for the site regarding the resister and purchasing. I purchased a BEHR. It is manufactured for Volvo for about $90.00. I probably would of spent the $33.00 instead.
Do you have any other sites were you have made purchases and have been happy with there product.
Thanks
