I am well aware that the '01 and '02 auto boxes can be problematic and have read quite a bit about possible corrective measures here and elsewhere.
That having been said, I may have an opportunity to pick up a V70 in good shape with relatively low mileage with "transmission issues."
I'd be willing to spring for a VBX valve body and DIY install same, along with complete fluid replacement -- If a B4 servo cover redo and fluid swap doesn't solve the problems.
Now for the question: My local dealer has quoted c. $200 to do an TCM reflash and reset the fluid counter (including c. $30-40 for updated software) and then leaving the car in adaptation mode so I can retrain the transmission as to shift points.
Does that sound reasonable to any who may have been down this road before?
Also, any experience with the VBX valve bodies if I have to go that route?
Also, from what I've read, an external transmission cooler and inline magnefine filter can help things out as well -- anybody gone that route?

I'm going to avoid the '01s and '02s so this has become a moot topic.
