1999 S80 - beauty turning into beast?

1999 S80 with 156,000 miles

I washed my car on Saturday, drove it for 10 mile between Sunday and Monday. I cleaned the inside on Monday, and parked it on the driveway.

On Tuesday morning, when I tried to start it: I turned the key, all the dashboard lights worked, and the "transmission service required" alarm came on; the car would not start; the transmission indicator light is positioned on "D", while the gear was in fact set to Park. It rained overnight Monday into Tuesday. The driveway is made on concrete and doeas not flood.

I checked the fuses - all ok
I let it stand all day (had to drive my brother's Jeep Cherokee to work- bhrrrr!!!. Nice of him though), and tried it tonight - nothing gives, and it still wont start.

Has this ever happened to any one?
