04 S80 Trunk lid doesn´t work right

Everything on the Volvo S80. Sometimes called an "executive car", the S80 was Volvo's top-of-the-line passenger car. P2 platform.

04 S80 Trunk lid doesn´t work right

Post by ossgrandi »

Hi guys,
I have a 2004 S80 d5 with 545.000 on the odometer :) This is my first post here so please excuse me if it comes off a bit daft.
I have a small trouble going on in my S80. The boot lid pops open at its own will, usually a few seconds after startup. The touch button does not work. Only the fob key works.
Now, I have done some preliminary research and poked around a bit. At first I suspected the button but after checking it for continuity with an ohm meter it seems to be fine. (A three wire connector on the inside of the trunk lid. Two of those wires showed continuity when the button was engaged. That´s right...right?)

Then I thought the wires had gotten damaged somehow in the wire loom between the trunk lid and the body. They measured ok at the connector behind the tail ligth.
After lurking around on this forum for a while I gathered some knowledge and went out to the garage for round two. I tried disconnecting the battery for a while, leaving the key in position II in order to reset the UEM. No luck there.
I tried holding the button on the end of the turn stalk for appr. 20 secs and pushing the rear fog button twice and releasing both in order to obtain codes if any... No luck there.
So now I´m left with either faulty wiring or a bad UEM Module or hopefully... some easy option that I haven´t thought about.
Before you say it, I have seen a lot of posts here about this problem, but none of them states that the push button doesn´t work. Thats why I´m confused.... :)
I tried leaving the trunk lid button unconnected. That seems to prevent the lid from popping open all the time, so it kinda solves the issue but the downside is that now I have to use the FOB to open the trunk.
Any ideas or suggestions?
Thanks
