On my 2002 V70 the ball joints on the ends of the arms of the regulator pop out of the plastic sliders. This started happening suddenly on a rainy but not too cold day.
I bought new plastic sliders and tested it a few times without issues. When I put the door back together the arms popped out again the second time I lowered the window. I'm wondering if the door panel adds some tension since it worked fine when I had the door disassembled. The regulator itself runs smoothly and I didn't notice any play in the gearing.
Anyone else run into this problem? I noticed that just before the arms pop out the window gets a little cocked in the track where the front end of the window appears to be a little ahead of the back end.
What is recommended maintenance for an old power window? Replace the gaskets? Any lubrication?
Thanks,
Andrew

Check the large rivets, one or more may be broken.

Also possible that one of the arms bent under load. Did you have a day that the window was frozen shut, and the motor pulled some before it popped loose from the ice, or has someone jammed the window down when it was partially opened? The regulator can bend before popping free from the blue slide block. If the rivet replacement doesn't work, pull the whole assembly out and see if one of the arms is bent or kinked. It doesn't take much unplanned bend in one or the arms for it to repeatedly pop free from the blue slide blocks. I ended up installing a used regulator after having a bent one that I could not bend back to whatever combination of twists was needed. That fixed the problem.

i had this same problem on driver window after I had replaced both blue sliders and removed and straightened the badly bent regulator arms after getting the car. I removed the regulator again, carefullyreshaped/ re-bent it again, and so far its working smooth. Used pics on ebay as a reference for exact shape!! Make sure there's no resistance on the window going up and down the tracks.
Thanks everyone for your suggestions. After taking everything apart again I checked the rivets and arms and everything seems okay although I can see that the rivets strain and deform a little when the window goes up.
It turns out that the new blue sliders I bought were tighter and I had to press really hard to get the ball joint seated. I think the first time I didn't have it seated all the way. No everything works great again.
Thanks,
Andrew
