2002 V70 2.4T Mutliple Error Codes, battery draining

Post by beachmedic78 »

This car is driving me crazy. The battery drains in as little as one hour. I've done some research and i think it's the alarm siren module which I am fixing. I bought an old one, checked the board and it looks good, and I've replaced the module battery. I have a Battery Tender hooked up to the car all the time when I'm at home because otherwise it will have a dead battery. I've had the battery and alternator checked, both are good. Now it appears the ECM may actual be the problem instead of the siren module but I'll soon see....
Now, the codes: P0785; P0607; P1630; P2096; P0700. I know the cause of the shift issues, the transmission killed 3rd gear and needs to be rebuilt. I don't know why I'm getting a lean condition on bank 1. I've recently replaced the turbo solenoid with a IPD unit. I also replaced the boost pressure sensor. I had been getting a low input signal and replaced the boost solenoid on accident when hindsight shows It was the sensor at fault.
Here are random other recent fixes FYI: Repaced both CV Half Shafts; drained and filled the transmission with synthetic fluid; replaced all but one of the engine mounts (lower rear).
Thanks for any help!

Update: I replaced the siren module and the battery still goes dead after only 2 hours. I cut open the old siren module and the circuit board was fried from the leaking battery which corroded off the positive and negative connector leads. :?

Several similar posts on the subject - batt. drain. I'd start with the charging circuit making sure it puts 14.4 volts on the batt at idle. I'd then insert a meter set on 20 amps in the batt. circuit and start pulling fuses. Glove comp. and trunk lights first. Also batt. should have 12.6 volts with engine stopped. Connecting cables tight and end lugs clean, no white salt at batt. posts or green oxide on lugs.

I finally got an answer. The battery was shot, I had 13.3 Volts but low amps; so when I tested it at home it looked good.
I fixed the siren module and reinstalled it without issues.

The lean mixture was caused by a vaccum line coming loose. It was attached to the manifold and went back behind the turbo and into a port on the black plastic intake tube. There must have been a nipple that was there but broke or fell off. I bought a 90 degree elbow for vaccum hose, reconnected and VIOLA!
