Good morning,Calling on you Volvo Guru's to lend me a hand here.
I'll start off with some history.as the title says the vehicle is a 1999 C70 convertible.I have been fighting this issue for a few months now. What it does is,it stumbles sometimes.Sometimes it runs fine, you never know when it will act up,but oh boy when it does,,it's over..Leaves the wife stuck and that's never good.I have addressed everything on the car that it has given me on codes.
It will not only stumble, but when it is acting up,it will sometimes pop when you try to accelerate threw the stumble.Sometimes it's like 1 cylinder is out, sometimes it's like 3 are out..Almost like you pulled the plug wires off or something.the thing has 150K miles now.Sometimes the ETS light comes on,sometimes it doesn't.Seems to come on when it is in it's worst mode's.So after reading lot's of posts here over the months these are the things that I have done.
Replaced ETS with a unit from Exmod.(very expensive)
Replaced all 5 fuel injectors(due to code saying #3 was open)
Map sensor replaced
Plugs replaced
Checked all piping (no leaks or cracks)
All clamps were check and or tightened
O2 sensors (Both)
There are prolly some things I have done and forgot.
No change in the way it runs,,sometimes it's fine,(when it runs fine it's as smooth as a babies bottom) Sometimes it starts it's crap and what is really strange is it seem that turning the car off removing the key and putting it back in and restarting it has an effect sometimes..I do not understand some of the turbo sensors so I have not thrown those parts at it as I have no code to point in that direction.
I am at my whits end here,so before I spend money replacing another single thing,,I come here to ask you Volvo Guru's for help..
Thanks in advance,
DW

Is the check engine light on? If so, what code numbers are your reading?

Hmmm.
Previously you had an injector 3 open and now you have an injector 2 open yet you changed all of the injectors. An actual injector failure is incredibly rare so it looks to me like a wiring problem. Have you had to remove the ECU for any reason?
The '99+ ECUs don't come with the release lever and getting them re-installed is a challenge. The ECU socket is like a ZIF socket and there are two rails that slide toward the back of the car to draw the ECU down into the socket and locks it. If the rails aren't all the way back to their seated position then the ECU isn't fully seated in the socket.
Chances are good that if you solve the injector issues then the rest of the errors will take care of themselves. The best way to monitor injector pulses is with an oscilloscope but most folks don't have one on the shelf next to the toolbox. Some DVMs, like my Flukes, have a fairly fast acting bar scale on the bottom of the display and I have been able to monitor injector pulses and coil trigger voltages by watching the bar when the car is at idle.
I think I would first verify that the ECU is fully seated and then monitor the #3 injector pulse while moving the wiring harness around. If there is an actual wiring problem it will often reveal itself when the wiring harness gets jostled.

The ECU and TCU are in a black plastic box that is more or less just behind the windshield washer fluid cap. There is an air hose that goes from the radiator to the top of the box with an accordion flex joint on it that will need to be removed but it just pushed on.
The ECU should be a Bosch and the TCU on your car is likely labeled Temic. Once you get the top of the cover off you really can't do anything without the $75.00 ECU removal tool but there are release springs on the bottom of the case that will let the sides of the box release.
Once the sides are off you can then, more or less, see the rails at the back. The rails on mine are all purple in color so they are fairly easy to spot.

How many miles are on this puppy? The ignition coils (5of them) live over the plugs on this car and are prone to failure after 100,000 miles. Spark plugs are often touchy on turbid too.. What brand and code did you use?

Try this ECU removal tool from IPD. At $29.95 it will get the job done. http://www.ipdusa.com/products/9430/106 ... moval-tool
Watch the rivets in the unit for looseness. I tack welded mine back in place after its first use.
The codes and behaviour of the car certainly seem to be contact or vibration related. Removing the ECU marked Bosch and cleaning it thoroughly with electrical contact cleaner would be a first step in possibly solving this.
There is a tool called a noid light which detects injector pulses in the loom. It may help with testing the injector rail pulses at cylinder 3 after the cleaning of the ECU. It's less expensive than an oscilloscope and is generally easy to use.

I'll try to get at it today,I was down over the weekend with cold/flue..Tks for the input and I will check the ECU as mentioned. As for the miles on the car,,all that is in the original post..I'm not sure bout the ignition coils to be certain but again, not sure they would give me the codes I am seeing..Don't think a coil would give me the ETC/ETM light...Tks again,,I will post update soon as I get too it..
