Fault in engine electronic system light comes on

i have a volvo s40 1.9 petrol turbo t4 r reg, which keeps on running funny in the mornings. When i start it up it idles a bit lumpy and after a few revs ticks over ok, just over the 1 on the rev counter.
When i pull away it seems to drive a bit jurky and sometimes it dies on me for a few secounds and then carrys on but the Fault in engine electronic system light comes on and the DSA light comes on as well. The car seems to do this when i first start it up, after 10 mins it seems ok. Sometimes the fan cuts in for no reason, it cold outside and i have only drove the car a mile or so, when i stop the fan stays on, i have to turn the ignition on and off a few times to switch it off. Can any one help me please, when the car has been warmed up for 15 mins it drives great.
