1995 Volvo 850 -

How do you turn off the Service light?
This is not the same light as the check engine light.

I wonder what the big deal is about a "Service Light".

I can extingush the "Trouble Code Light" with no problem.

You'd think it would be the other way around.

And there's no way at all with out a special tool? You're sure?

Lightorch and Jot...the '96 and '97 models need a special tool. '95 models don't. Here, this should help: http://www.volvospeed.com/850slight.php
Even on the models that take a tool (and my '98 S70 is the same way) there is a tool made by a company called DRAPER that only costs about $60 you can do this with. I got lucky enough to find one on eBay last year. I haven't seen one recently but if you're patient, they turn up.
