Looking at a 1999 S80 Turbo

Everything on the Volvo S80. Sometimes called an "executive car", the S80 was Volvo's top-of-the-line passenger car. P2 platform.

Looking at a 1999 S80 Turbo

Post by vuduchild »

Nice care drives well but I know nothing about Volvo's. I know a lot about Corvettes. I think it would be a good family car. They are asking 10000 I was thinking of offering 7000. It has 125000 miles. Everything works. Would appreciate some feedback. I really like the car, always my pit fall.

Thanks

I bought a 99 S80 T6 about 6 months ago and ever since then I have had nothing but problems with it. I paid 9000 for mine but have put a couple of thousand more into it just for repairs. If you're going to get an S80, I'd go for 2001 and up. Even the volvo dealer told me that the 99-00's have had a lot of transmissions problems which costs about $4000 to fix...which is why Im thinking of trying to sell mine.

Just to offer a different view, I own a 2000 S80 - my first Volvo - and love it. I bought it in Oct. '05 with 219K and now have 226K. Upon purchase, I rebuilt the ABS module, replaced a door lock module, and handled some cosmetic issues. I now have a car I got incredibly cheap that drives beautifully, looks great, and is as comfortable as a car can get. I'm extremely pleased with my purchase. It is a very nice family car. I do have real concerns about the Volvo dealerships and their gouging, however. If you are into DIY, there are online discount Volvo parts dealers. Finding a good independent repair shop is a good idea too. $7K sounds like a good offer. Best of luck!
