1995 850 drivers seat broken.

When I sit in the driver's side front seat, and go to put the back of the seat up, the left side goes up and is mobile but the right side doesn't move at all. It makes the seat kind of twisted. Can't figure out what is stuck or if its possibly a cable to the motor? Any ideas?

There is a rod that goes across the seat to make both sides move together. It must have come loose.

If you have power seats, there is a cable (like a short old style speedo cable) with a plastic outer sheath and an inner wire cable with a squared end that goes into the backrest drive motor at one end and the other end moves the backrest one one side at the other. Over time the outer plastic covering stretches and pulls the square drive out of its' seat. There will be a how to somewhere on MVS that I recall using telling how to replace, or heat the sheath gently each end to shrink it slightly and re-use. You have to remove the back rest cover to access the cable for repair. For re-assembly you will need hog rings and pliers to re-fit the cover. It takes little time, but not really difficult.

Hey Neil:

I just did that repair today. That effects both sides of the seat from reclining. He is saying that one side reclines and the other doesn't move. In that case the transmission or the rod that connects the two sides has come loose.
