1999 Volvo V70 R Rough Start up
On occasion when I start my V70 the engine will roughly start and then run fine. It sounds like the car is starved of fuel. Is this a sign to change the fuel pump. I have 130000 miles on it and recently purchased it so I don't know if it has been changed. Any other diagnosis tests I can preform? Also sometimes it will crank strong but not start and then ill let it sit for a couple seconds then itl start right up. I believe the two problems point toward malfunctioning fuel pump or no?

Hey Zach. Glad you're enjoying the car. I read your couple of posts. I never had a rough start issue with it. But that car was sitting for two years with fuel in it. I would run a few tanks of high grade fuel with some fuel injector cleaner and maybe some dry gas. I wouldn't go replacing anything yet. It might take a while to cycle all the old fuel out of the mix.
AS far as the car staying hot and the secondary fan not working. That fan definitely works. A little while before I stopped using the car I had to replace the thermostat. It jammed shut on two occasions. That fan is what kept the gauge from going into red and boiling over. The fan ran for about 15 minutes after I shut the car off. That's the only times I heard the fan with the car off. It worked exactly as it was supposed to. If the car is running at a good gauge temp, you should be a-ok. Maybe you had a hot thermostat in your other Volvo that was tripping the fan.
Have you noticed any other gremlins?

I have not noticed any other gremlins yet. I am loving the car so far, so much room. However , I just get real finicky with things if they do not work perfect(Even with an older car). Other then those two things , no everything else is working fine. What I am replacing before I drive it out to yellowstone will be the fuel pump the driver side door speaker(I think it is partially blown, but an OEM one was like 15 bucks off of Ebay, and just routine stuff so its prepped for the long haul out there.
