Last week I was getting some gas and left my key in the ignition. When I wanted to start the car again all lights on the dashboard came on like normal, but the starter didnt crank or move at all. I had to wait for about 30 to 45 minutes because I could start the car again, luckily.

Yesterday I had the same issue at home, but this time I had the key with me. I got home, went inside and wanted to start the car again like 1h later, but no start.

I suspect the anti-theft system to be the cause of it, but I'm not sure. Everything else works and looks fine. Apparently if I wait for 30 to 60 minutes I can start the car again.

Help!

It is an automatic transmission and the battery is just a few months old.
I was able to move the transmission into Neutral even if it wouldnt start,to push the car to a parking spot.

Next time when it refuse to crank, move shifter up & down few times(from P to L)fast or just try to start in "N" position.
I think your pnp switch is the cause of the problem.

In addition the good suggestions above, I'd recommend checking the positive battery cable and terminal to make sure they are clean, tight and corrosion free. A voltage drop test from the battery to the starter would be one good place to start.

I had a simmilar issue recently, it was a corroded or bad contact to the switch on the starter. Just pulled and re-seated the small connector a few times + some wd40.
