1998 V70xc Po243 turbo wastegate solenoid "A" malfunction

Post by shiloh51933 »

So I',m filling up my older Cross Country...I get 20$ but it's still not full so I go back in to add another 10$ but when I come back my XC stalled out. I was like "WTF!!" Anyway I tried to start her but she stalls immediately as she starts with no CEL. After a few tries I finalyy get a DTC (P0243), the solenoid looks fine, all 3 vacuum lines look good, plug connector looks good. Anyway, I know the MAF is connected to this so I unplug the "MAF" sensor and of course she starts right up then holding idle. I never got a code for MAF until I unplugged it of course but is it the only culprit or is there an issue with with turbo waste gate solenoid? She needs some stuff, I've been trying my best to bring her back to stage 0 but money is real tight after taking an income loss of like 30%. She needs the oil cooler lines, struts all around(rear nivomats), I did frt. LCA's/LF cv axle/brakes/tires/cap-rotor,wires, plugs/oil&filter/wheel alignment/wipers frt.&rear/ect. . Anyway, any suggestions concerning the P0243 dtc?

For the moment I think I would ignore the code and just drive it for a bit. Overfilling the car can flood the charcoal cannister and they run like crap for the next several starts and 100 miles or so but it clears itself up and the code may clear after that.

Yeah it won't run at all w/MAF plugged into connector and my MPG's are down of course.

There's 12V at MAF plug and 5V at solenoid A plug. I've driven way over 100km already, so I'm thinking MAF is bad needing replacement.

If it won't run at all with the MAF plugged in but does run with it unplugged that is a pretty good indication that the MAF is bad. You can try to clean it but if it is that bad it likely won't work. If you do clean it just spray the cleaner on and let it dry. Don't scrub it or even touch it.
