2005 XC70 Super Loud Front End Noise

I am new to the forum and I have a very interesting issue.

I purchased a 2005 XC70 from a dealer about 2 months ago. 165,000 miles and runs smooth and decent mileage. About a week ago, the check engine light came on. Before that point, I has been noticing a change in the feeling on shifting in 3rd and 4th gears. I pulled the codes and they were 0501 and 0733. Vehicle Speed Sensor "A" Range/Performance and Gear 3 Incorrect Ratio. The next afternoon, on the way home from work, easy driving, dry conditions - there was a very loud whine/squeal from the front passengers side of the engine compartment. Extremely loud. Pulled over and the sound stopped. Reved the engine in neutral and park and the engine sounded and acted normal. Put the car back into drive and started to pull away and as the car started moving (2mph+) the noise returned. Still moving, put the transmission into neural but the noise did not stop.

Brakes and good. Idles fine. Belts and good and new. Transmission fluid looks good, smells clean, and is full. Have not replaced or checked the speed sensor. Other maybe than the speed sensor coming apart and dropping into the transmission, I'm lost.
