1999 S70 T5 CCM-414 other codes. Is it cabin temp sensor

Post by blandis »

My blower fan has quit.

Several months ago I started getting heat only on the passanger side of my car. Think we figured out it was a damper motor. No big deal. I bypassed the heater core a little while back as the heat has rolled in here in NC.

A while back my blower fan would run on a low speed then finally quit. I finally got VIDA and scanned it this morning.

Below are my codes. My research points to cabin temp sensor part # 3524841. $150 part. Would the cabin temp sensor be the first step in replacing parts?

CCM-332 Air distribution damper motor active to long
CCM-314 Damper motor temperature active to long
CCM-414 Fan motor passanger compartment temp senor faulty signal
CCM-411 Power unit blower fan motor faulty signal

you have multiple problems of course.

These climate control systems are known to clog up the cabin sensor - have you tried vacuuming it out first to see if starts working?

Abscate appreciate your prompt response.

Cleaning the sensor did not help. Fan in the sensor spins when you switch the fan on but blower motor will not come on.

I see it as two issues:
1. Bad damper motor which I knew about. That caused my heat to be on all the time only on the passenger side.

2. Bad sensor that is causing no signal to be sent to the blower motor to "tell" it to come on and at what speed.

I do have dual climate control.

Am I wrong with #2?

If you move the fan switch off Auto the fan speed is independent of the temp regulator. If the fan doesn't come on then, it's probably a bad fan

About 200 to replace but only 10 minute job

Fan motor on the way. Will report back if that fixes it.

Thanks Abscate.

Noticed yesterday that fan will run on low speed if you slide the fan switch on. Regardless of where you set it the fan blows the same speed. No fan motor at all if you move switch to auto.

Could this be a resistor or still focus on the fan motor. I have a new fan motor on the way.

The 1999 ( perhaps earlier) electronic climate control doesn't use the traditional resistor bridge to control the fan speed. The ECC control unit sends variable voltage to the fan directly. There is a power stage mounted on the climate unit near the motor but I don't know how to trouble shoot that.

I think the motor is by far the most likely culprit
