Hi All,
I've been a lurker on these boards.
And some of the solutions have been brilliant - Particularly the DIM repair which I did successfully some weeks ago!
I recently received my VIDA DICE and scanned my car for the first time.
I had the following error codes:
ECM-1600 Boost Pressure Sensor (Signal Too Low)
ECM-170f Boost Pressure Sensor (Faulty Signal)
I removed the Boost Pressure sensor and decided to soak it in carb cleaner and clean the contacts on the plug.
I reinstalled it, and now when I run diagnostics I get a green light for ECM170F (doesn't mean fixed, read precopster response below))
However, I still get the ECM-1600 Boost Pressure Sensor (Signal Too low) code.
I hadn't had any drivability issues that I was aware of (only had the car for a month it has 157,000kms on it), although the car is "crisper" from a standing start now.
I'm seeking some experience as to whether it is likely to be a faulty/expired sensor or if it is possible the wiring from the plug to wherever that leads is "damaged".
I have read the other posts on this topic but they don't cover what I am asking.
Appreciate the help from anyone who might know.
Cheers

A green light next to a code doesn't mean solved. It means the error is logged but only just out of tolerance so it won't cause limp home or check engine light.
Best to replace the sensor as you're pretty much running out of options unless you consider cleaning the ECM contacts at the base of the connector first.

Hi Mike
Thanks for the response. I'll get a new one ordered and post back once i install.
Now I've got the valvebody solenoids to do. Bought the transgo kit after watching your video but all I'm going to use are the caps as I'm not rebuilding the whole valvebody.
Considering I won't be using the other bits in the kit it feels expensive now, $120 for three caps!
Had an option of a brand new valve body from the UK for £330 delivered, but got nervous it wouldn't be the right one.
I'll post my results from the solenoid refurb as well.
Cheers

Yeah that's a lot of coin for 3 tight fitting bottle tops and 2 drill bits. So as not to waste your coin I'd try to demagnetise as well as clean those bushings.
I know about green status errors because I have an ETM that has a sensor 1 error even with a contactless fitted. The ETS light is always on, performance is unaffected and cruise still works.
Looking forward to hearing your results from just the tops as I have a customer that wants just this done so we can assess his 2007 XC 70's valve body. His car only has 98K kilometres or about 60k miles.

Demagnetise the solenoids?
Ok, I'll do some searching for it.
I was hoping I could find the caps external to the trans go kit and use them instead, but no such luck.
Do you remove valvebodys for customers?
I tried finding a mechanic who would pull mine out and give it to me to work on but no one would touch it.
Actually, one local guy wanted $600 to remove and reinstall, that's pure labour, no fluids etc. I'm guessing that was simply his way of saying "no". Haha

If you take your time you can remove the solenoids without removing the valve body. The subframe still needs to be dropped. Just use diagrams/photos as a guide to where things are.
I can assisit with that if you like. We can also try another boost pressure sensor I have here from an XC 70 (same engine) PM me so we can arrange.
