It's so frustrated. My new 2016 xc90 cannot start during my vacation out of country. It shows "parking service is needed". The parking brake cannot be released. I used volvo on call to tow my car to the nearest dealer. They said because the headlight was on, the battery was run out. They charged my battery, did DTC'S check, and found CEM-B129F6 stored. What does this mean? They cleared and rested after test drive. Fault did not return.
I cannot believe this. My brand new XC90 had this problem. Can anyone help me with this? What should I do next? How should I talk to dealer or VOLVO. They only pay for the tow truck, not my rental car. I really appreciate any advice how to go from here. Millions of thanks ahead.

That is unfortunate. I would leave the headlights on the "A" setting so they are automatic. My guess is the CEM code is related to the battery dying. Call the dealer and ask them what the code means. I have yet to have an issue with our 2016, but past Volvo experience tells me that intermittent problems leave DTC codes - all related to power - once power is restored and code is cleared all is fine.
Just call the dealer and ask.

Thanks SuperHerman for your reply.
This is my first Volvo, and I am so upset. How can a brand new car function like this?
I am very unhappy with their customer service. I have been driving the car over two hours, only parked for less than one hour. I don't think it's my fault at all.
I want to file a formal complaint to volvo cars of North America. Anyone knows how to do this?

Wait, you left the lights on and killed the battery, so they charged the battery and everything is fine now? I guess you could file a complaint with the bbb, but I highly doubt that will accomplish anything except waste your time.

The 1st thing you should do is learn how to turn YOUR vehicle's headlights off before you exit the vehicle . 2nd thing is to learn responsibility. How is it Volvo's fault your vehicle's battery went down ? 3rd , you should not call Volvo because they will think you are disturbed for calling them w/this kind of complaint.

So, would the cable being loose qualify as a manufacturer error?Grace wrote:It turned out the cable was loose. It's volvo's problem. I have get hold with their customer service. They are working on my case now.
