Best parts: Car has 112k miles, clean under the layer of grunge from sitting. Last registered in 2010.
Maint records in the car show "recent"
Worst parts: C/L pictures showed perfect car, then when the family emptied the house, they backed rental truck into bumper and corner light (Dang, otherwise all straight), and evidently the windshield seal is leaking, powerful funk in the trunk. water in driver footwell after recent rain. PO cut the outboard rear seat belts, because the tensioners jammed. And the cargo cover needs RSPI fix.
Anyway, so far, I have ;
1 Pulled fuel tank from donor 850 parts wagon to swap while I clean who knows what varnish from original.
2 Pulled plugs, and they all look good (Volvo brand and they were changed at 90k service at 93,000.) (in '06
poured some oil in each of the cylinders then stuck plug wires back in holes to close out moisture etc...
3 Made a tool tonight for serp belt; belt looks ok but all pulleys have surface rust from sitting out, and I don't want to tear up belt due to laziness.
4 Plan is to drain and fill fluids, flushing whichever systems I can.
I haven't tried to turn the engine over, hand or battery yet, wanted to get oil in first. I will try to hand turn motor after I pull serpentine belt to clean pulleys. If the motor is locked I will cry.
First Big question, top end is dry as viewed from oil fill, just a varnish shadow of oil. I plan to rig something to kinda spray oil in on the cam lobes as best I can, and to crank motor with no ignition or fuel before attempting to start it, but I am worried about cam journals/bearings. With no ignition or compression load, will it be okay to crank until the system pressurizes and lubes the top end?
