Well I'm here to learn! I've already gained a lot of knowledge just by lurking and digging into this great site.

I'm currently working on bringing my S80 back to stage 0, and will be doing a few mods here and there.

Here's a link to my car progress

welcome! Get that stage one done and start having a blast! I love the S80. I was THIS close to buying one instead of the wagon.

Have fun out there!

Thanks!
I'm hoping to get stage one done next year, but it might take longer because I was thinking that instead of buying brand new performance parts (which would cost a small fortune with the plans I had in mind), I would buy them used.

I wonder if anyone on this website has had any experience buying used performance parts?

It's not a performance part for you, but it was for me! I picked up a used 16t turbo (stock is 13t) off ebay for $200. Checked it for play in the bearings. it was nice and tight so I slapped it in there. I drove down to see lucky with ARD tuning to get the ECU tuned, and 1000 miles later all is well! I figure buy something used if its going to save you a lot of money. If it doesn't work, save up for a new one. Most of the time, the used parts are known working since they usually came off a working car. Of course being used, they have less life in them (depending on what it is), I reckon that this 16t has already put enough smiles on my face to make it worth $200. Check the classifieds here often, nobody here will BS you.

While I was talking with lucky, he suggested this for my car (in his words)

" Chad,
The biggest bang for buck upgrades on these cars tend to be;
1. Turbo upgrade
2. ECU tuning
3. Intercooler
4. Downpipe

After that I prefer intake tube (Maf to turbo), short ram, and cat back exhaust.
This is of course just a quick list of suggestions, there are lots of performance upgrades out there but I find these to be the most effective :) "

I'm still having a good time with the first two (stage one), the rest are to come, then a retune!

such.

Sweet! Thanks for the advice. I'm definitely leaning towards used performance parts as my car already has 97k miles and I'll probably only have it for another 3 years. I check the classifieds every day!
A 16t turbo sounds hella fun lol.
Speaking of turbo, I actually have no idea what the size of my stock turbo is. Someone told me it was a 14t but I think they were just guessing. Either way, a bigger turbo sounds like great fun to me and I bet Lucky knows what he's talking about, so I will consider slapping one in if I can find a good one.
