Is the 2003 s60 reliable?

I am expecting to buy a 2003 s60 (about 70 000 km, manual transmision, no turbo). After reading some of the messages I was woundering if I was really going to make a good decision. Is that specific year/model reliable and what is the fuel consumption for that vehicle (city/highway)? Is the manual transmission better than the automatic?
