He was in it since 2000. It's a 1999 T6. I have a few dozen posts here about his ownership and maintenance on it.
He got $600 for it in trade for a 2016 Hyundai Elantra 4-dr base auto, at around $16,200.
It clocked in at 135k miles, and he loved it. Got 24 mpg lifetime, 90% city.
He faced getting new tires and struts for it, and at $2k, couldn't stomach it.
I remember being wowed by it. Its long legs, quiet power and comfortable interior made it a great road trip car, although I wasn't ever in it for a long drive.
It was a good-looking car even to this day, it aged well.

Why did you allow him to let it go so cheaply?
I am enjoying driving my 2001 base model S80 so much that I have parked my 2015 Passat LE.
I bought the S80 as a backup to the Passat for commuting duty only to find that the Passat is now a backup to the Volvo.
Struts & tires are easy maintenance items. love the torque of the turbo's.

I've got a car, a motorcycle and a kid. I can't really take a second car, it would just sit on the street and cost me money to register, insure and the inevitable parking tickets (ex: $50 street sweeping).

Understood!
Ahhh...................the joys of city life.
Got rid of my MG LeMans CX100 five years ago.
No more sport bikes for me until I have my knees replaced.
Volvo is wayyyyy more comfy & tire punctures are much easier to mend. No inner tube.
