96 850 wet cabin air filter and water sloshing around.

Read a bit about this first. Dripping water behind the glovebox is reason for this post. Just did the heater core and it is dry, coolant level not dropping, and carpet when pulled back is dry, so there appears to be no coolant, or even water in the cabin anywhere yet, unless I am missing it. Cabin air filter is securely in place and there is no water pooling under the rain tray, main drains there are patent. Rubber drain to nipple by the heater core is not plugged unless it is too high up for me to appreciate. I hear water dripping when the fan runs, glovebox area, otherwise I do not hear anything. I do see the gasket below the rain tray is flat, perhaps allowing water to get in through there when I am driving, soaking the cabin filter. I assume this gasket material needs to be replaced at some point. The fan has condensation on it as seen from above. I have not removed the glovebox as I'm not sure how that helps me determine where the water is or how to access it. So, what next? How did the water/condensation get there, more than one source? Condensation from AC and through the cabin filter? Can I remove the rubber drain (entirely) by the heater core and try to snake something further up towards the evap/blower motor? Evap was replaced maybe 7 years ago. TIA.

The drain plug that sits outside by the cabin filter is plug. You can just lift up like you are replacing the cabin filter and by the outside corner is a large drain. There is also a plastic boot below the point where the cabin filter sits. The plastic is loose and you need to lift up, clean it, and glue it after you clean the drain first. You can also flush the drain hose from heater core with compress air.

I think the drain you refer to is open but I will certainly check again to be sure, thanks.

The drain that I am referring is not the drain that is on the plastic shroud below the wipers. The drain is on the metal portion where the motor for the wipers sit. All the water from this location drains towards the passenger side, right next to the cabin filter shroud.

If you have a sun roof, you need to clean the 4 drains. The 2 drains from the back are flush backwards from the drain tubes. These are located by wheel wells on the rear cargo or trunk depending on your car.

I agree - Sounds like clogged drains.

You haven't mentioned recent
weather conditions in your area.
That would be helpful.

There are no drains present on the metal ledge or shrouding near the wiper motor, or elsewhere that I can locate, on this model. In front of the cabin filter there is a patent drain, plastic opening, rubber drain. Drains in front of the plastic rain tray are also clean. Sunroof drains are fine. Yes it has been raining. The cabin filter is soaked after a rain. The only thing I find is that the rubber gasket that covers the lower mating surface for the cabin filter (sits on the metal lip) and the plastic filter housing looks like it needs to be resealed, cleaned. The issue is that water is getting through the cabin filter opening. All I can think of to do is carefully re-adhere the rubber gasket. Maybe after-during a heavy rain I can look to see if water is pooling anywhere where it shouldn't be.

You do have one, if your are looking at the rubber gasket or boot, take a wet vac and sucked all the junk that is at the junction. The metal slopes towards this side and the drain hole faces the engine.

If I am standing like, I am about to replace the cabin filter the hole is to the left of my hand.

Remove the drain by the heater core and stick a coat hanger up there. I've had screws or other debris clog that drain twice. Same sloshing water noise when driving.
