“Large animal detection [is] a system capable of detecting large animals such as elk, horses or moose, night or day. The technology offers an intuitive warning and brake support to help avoid a collision,” said Volvo.

"Powering the S90 is Volvo’s T8 all-wheel drive plug-in hybrid powertrain. The front-mounted 2.0-liter gasoline engine features both turbo and a supercharger; it’s paired with a rear-mounted 65-kilowatt electric motor to give the car optional all-wheel drive and all-electric range."

Transmission choices include a six-speed manual and an eight-speed automatic. The former gets optimized gear sets and final drives for improved fuel economy, while the latter promises to help deliver best-in-class efficiency. The eight-speed gearbox also comes with start-stop technology.
