Keys...$300?
Keys...$300?
My 2001 S40 needs new keys. They are 'stand-alone' keys, before the whole key fob/ integrated key/button things (wish I could convert). The rubber casing on the key is broken away, leaving the chip and key skeleton visible. Volvo wants $300 for a new key! What are my options?

It has a small tray who accepts the chip - careful removing the chip from the original key as is a bit fragile. You can have the key cut online on Ebay.
There are also chinese key fobs on Ebay but people who bought them said the quality is not so good. Instead you can get a used fob and install a new blade, the chip and transfer the circuit board from your actual fob
