DEM / AOC / Haldex Pump Electrical Resistance

Post by FattyArbuckle »

--> STILL NEED HELP WITH THIS PROBLEM. <--
*** CAN ANYONE MEASURE THE ELECTRICAL RESISTANCE FROM EITHER MOTOR CONNECTOR TO THE MOTOR HOUSING (ON A GOOD MOTOR) ????

2006 XC70
As part of trying to solve various intermittent problems, I measured the electrical resistance of the Differential Pump Motor (also called AOC pump, DEM pump, or Haldex pump) . This is the motor controlled by the DEM (Differential Electronic Module) and mounted on the front of the rear differential. I did the 12V test and the pump sounds like it runs okay - but this is an intermittent problem.

Resistance between the two pump terminals was 2.1 ohms – a reasonable number that should draw about 6.6 amps. ( The fuse is 7.5 amp – I think.)
My concern is that the resistance from either terminal to the housing (ground) was about 30K ohms. While that is a fairly high resistance, I would have expected infinite resistance.
So my Question is: Does anyone know the terminal to housing resistance of a known-good pump ?
