Advice considering 2009 S80 with 79K miles

Everything on the Volvo S80. Sometimes called an "executive car", the S80 was Volvo's top-of-the-line passenger car. P2 platform.

Advice considering 2009 S80 with 79K miles

Post by blandis »

Looking at purchasing a 09 S80 3.2. 79K miles, very clean car. Both keys, good tires and decent records. Have 99 S70 T5 with 161K, and a 06 XC90 with 135K. Have done 99% of the work on both so familiar with these cars and will do most of the work on the S80 if I buy it.

Not much information on common issues that I can find for this model year. What would be your concerns?

I'm in the same boat. Looking at '07 - '10 S80 3.2 for my daughter and not finding a lot of information on living with the car if you're a DIY'er. Our current Volvo is an '08 V70 3.2 which we've had for less than a year. So far the issues are the in-dash key fob mechanism being reluctant to eject, clogged sunroof drains (2" of water in the driver's footwell) and a dead OEM battery. Otherwise it's a lovely car. It's our fourth Volvo and fantastic to travel with. One thing I will need, perhaps you as well, the Vida Dice diagnostic setup. Can't really do much in the way of troubleshooting without it I hear.

Good luck in your search,
Roman
