PURCHASE A SHOP MANUAL. I LIKE THE HAYNES OVER THE CHILTON MYSELF.
OR JUST REMOVE THE 7 BOLTS AND BOLT IN THE NEW BALL JOINT.

Yes you do not have to mess with the shock and spring assmembly, you can leave it on the car. You will need a ball joint seperator. There are basically two types one that looks like a large pickle fork and you hammer in to separate the joint and a lever type that you tighten a large bolt until it goes "bang" and the joint comes apart. I like the lever type but they cost more. If you are going to reuse the ball joint, tie rod, the lever type is the way to go in my book.
