Lower transmission cooling hose issue

Post by TurboMami13 »

I'm in the process of installing a new radiator on a 94 850 turbo and I decided to replace the oil and transmission cooling lines while at it since it's easy access with everything out. Plus the lines are 22 yrs old and it made sense to do the job all at once. All the lines were installed fairly easily with the exception of the lower tranny cooling hose which was a bear to try remove. While trying to unscrew the big compression nut, the female attachment threaded into the case spun a little while I was try to brace it with a wrench while turning the upper nut on the hose. The black o-ring began to squeeze out from under the attachment and is loose a little bit. How is the threaded part attached to the black case? I'm figuring its a reverse thread into the case and worried about whether I might have stripped it or maybe the o-ring/gasket pieces fell into the black fluid case. I was able to get a good bracing point with the wrench and FINALLY able to get the hose off. What do I need to do about the part that goes into the fluid case? I'm afraid to monkey with it more and really screw it up as I don't know exactly how it's attached to the case...if it's only threaded with a black rubber gasket/o-ring under it or it there's a nut behind it or whatever. Any advice on how to fix what I've done? Thanks so much

Maria

Thanks for the link. I was eventually able to get the hose off by using an adjustable wrench on the fitting attached to the transmission fluid pan and bracing it against the frame to keep it stationary while using another wrench to break the nut free. Prior to that it spun a little before I could get it braced and a black o-ring came out from under the fitting. Is there a way to remove the fitting from the transmission oil pan so I can replace the o-ring? I had the dealer pull up the diagram and it's listed as 19a but doesn't show it as being available. It only shows the pan as available. I really hope I don't have to replace the pan.
