Removing bevel gear
Just thought I'd share my experience removing my bevel gear tonight. I've watched a few YouTube videos on how difficult it is to remove these from the transmission. Tonight I took my first try at removing mine. I heard Volvo used an epoxy to hold it on the Trans shaft better so I used a ballpean hammer to tap around it. Grabbed my Vicegrip and tried to move it to no avail. Hit it a bunch more times and contemplated my next move. As I tapped on it I noticed some movement. Flipped my vicegrips over and clamped them on really tight. Started hitting the vicegrips with my hammer and noticed the gear was actually coming out but very slowly. Hit it a few more times to make sure and it was. Thought I'd be there all night and the I remembered my air chisel. Grabbed that, reattached my vicegrips and put the flat chisel against my vicegrips. Watched in amazement as the gear started to back out with ease. Totally excited that this worked so well! Not sure if others have done this but thought I'd share it cause it worked so we'll for me.
