Remanufactured rack and pinions experiences.

Post by PS78 »

Right now I'm looking to proactively replace my 2000 s70 rack. This isn't due to leaks but internal wear within the rack. I have an installer already lined up, but I want to source a quality reman rack. I've noticed there are a lot of companies rebuilding racks right now and prices vary from $160 upwards of $600. Has anyone had any experiences good or bad with units in the recent past? Any recommendations and or links appreciated.

I'm curious what internal wear issues you're experiencing?

Recently a local alignment shop told me my rack was "too worn" to hold a proper alignment. I found that very odd, as most of the suspension components had recetly been replaced. Unfortunately, he didn't bother to demonstrate what he found.

I don't feel any slop, loosness, wandering on the highway, etc.
