Good tool for tensioner pulley - Harbor Freight

I have had to R&R my serpentine belt a few times in the last couple of days. My 3/8ths ratchet barely clears the space allowed, in fact, I had to grind down my 14mm socket. Passing by Harbor Freight, I decided to stop and see what they had. What they had was a narrow ratchet about 16" long, 3/8 at one end, 1/4 at the other. With flex heads at either end. Easily fits in the space allowed and I am quite pleased with it. I will attempt to attach a picture. Sorry, can't do it. Anyway, about $30.00, 24 with discount. A caution if you have the 55-60 torx head tensioner. All my torx sockets that size are 1/2 drive. Trying to fit an adapter and meet space requirements seems unlikely.

I was looking through the Harbor Freight catalog and found this. It is the sort of tool I was looking for when I stopped at the store. Of course, there was no one to help.

The price is right. I have used this style before and found them very good. I think others at a slightly higher price might be better. The one I rented "broke" in the middle. This is important, since there is no ratchet. It permits you to reposition the handle for more "turn". Because of the long arm, you sometimes encounter interference before sufficient tension is released. I think the Craftsman at $32.00 does that.

Hello Gents,

On the newer models that use the later style tensioner there is only a T-55 torx insert in which Volvo uses a special tool. When replacing the tensioner, the only style available is the newer style as well.

Just bought this ratchet and removed my turbo banjo bolts today from below, been fighting with this turbo for days, the slim profile really helped.
Good find.
