v70 2004 Power Steering Reservoir Seepage

Not a big thing, but keeping the fluids from leaking even a tiny bit is a good idea for those of us with high mileage goals.

My 2004 v70 has a power steering reservoir with a oily-to-the-touch reservoir, and a damp lower hose for the first few inches running away from the reservoir. The oily residue is distinctly more pronounced below the seam that runs around the equator of the reservoir, which is what is stumping me.

My first guess would be that the rubber seal in the cap is not sealing, but if this were the case, I'd expect more residue on the top half of the reservoir, rather than the bottom half.

Is the inherent vibration sufficient to create this unusual situation? I don't seem to have a major leak at all, and if the reservoir was cracked, I'd expect to see evidence of a "jet" of pressurized fluid shooting out somewhere, and I don't have this.

So, I have residue on my reservoir (and I have a polar bear in my Frigidaire!).

I've been dealing with a power steering leak as well, and I'm pretty sure the reservoir isn't pressurized, not much at least. So seaping instead of a jet of fluid seems plausible.

My leak is on the high pressure supply line after the pump, and that leak is markedly more jet-like

I've found that the hose clamps on the reservoir like to loosen up over time.

As above, lower clamp and cap seal (just remove and rotate)
