I'm sad to list my favorite Volvo wagon for sale, but it's time to thin the herd.

This 1988 Volvo 240 DL wagon was originally a Georgia car and was meticulously cared for by the Volvo dealer in Macon, Georgia. When I called the dealer a couple years ago and described the car, they remembered it immediately. It came to Kansas with a community college student in 2007 and was sold to an elderly man in Pratt, Kansas in 2009. I purchased the car from the gentleman's son after he was no longer able to drive.

Over the last couple years I have slowly fixed or replaced everything that I found that the car needed. The odometer didn't work when I purchased the car, which is a common problem with these older Volvos. I repaired the odometer and, using the Carfax records and the recollection of the former owner, reset the odometer to be close to the estimated actual mileage. This car is in excellent condition for its age. You would never know it has over 200k miles! The car has absolutely no rust anywhere.

Everything works as it should on this car. The one exception is the A/C, which blows cool, but not cold air. The old R-12 system was converted to R-134a and works properly, but it isn't as cold as a new A/C system.

The old tan interior plastic pieces are known to turn to breadcrumbs by this age. I've managed to find good quality replacements for everything that was broken or cracked. The exception is the dash, which does have a few cracks in it, as is common on older dashes. The driver seat bolster had a large hole worn in it, so I had an upholstery shop repair the seat. The patch is visible, but doesn't stand out.

The exterior is in very good condition. At some point, the original owner had the car repainted in the original metallic beige and finished with a high quality clear coat. There are a few chips in the front and some scratches in the finish, but overall the paint is still great. The passenger rear door has two small door dings, and the driver rear wheel arch has a small dent. If you look very closely, you can find one small hail dent on the roof.

I own and maintain five old Volvos. I pay attention to the details and fix all the little things that often plague the 240s, like straightening all the door handles and installing new stops, rebuilding the seat heaters, repairing the rear seat release handle, etc. I have also done extensive maintenance to this car and put on many new parts. I will include a full list below. I also keep lists of all the part numbers, brands, where I bought things, and prices, if you really want to geek out.
